Irfan Naeem (21) from Denny, is studying for a NC Business qualification which he hopes will help him eventually progress on to university.

He said: “I chose the course because the College is the place where I have spent most of my adult academic life. It has embraced me with open arms and has treated me with the most respect. The Student Association and the College truly care for how the students live their lives and how they can further help their fellow students, they also take mental wellbeing very seriously and they even give opportunities to allow students to seek help any issues. The staff have always gone the extra mile to help guide me and teach me to truly understand the course in the past, the present and the future.

“The lecturers and staff have been great with me. Whenever I went to Fiona Clelland’s class she always had a smile, both on the good and the bad days and she is a kind and caring person, who is willing to sit and help you understand the work. The same goes for Ken my Learner Development Worker. I would also like to add that my LDW James Lafferty from my previous Digital Media course at the Stirling Campus, is a man who you can always have a great and joyful conversation with and also he is an extremely friendly person.

“Studying at the College has benefited me as it has allowed me to develop the skills and character that will help me progress in my career. It will also help me in interviews, as for example the course I am doing now has allowed me to communicate better with others. It has allowed me to learn skills and qualities that have enabled me to help others such as: finance, marketing and of course my social skills, which have allowed me to connect with others to help them and to provide them with advice.

“The College will enable me to progress into further studies such as going to university and studying what means the most to me. To carry out freelance work which will further enhance my skills to work independently, and more confidently, or to potentially get a job that I can be proud of.

“I would definitely highly recommend going to Forth Valley College. The people are great and the best bit for me has been meeting new people, getting to know them and what motivates them, and find out what has encouraged them to go down the path they have chosen.

“The thing I loved most about the College was the prayer room. When I first discovered it, I felt joy as when I first entered it the facility had provided religious students with prayer mats, Quran, and the bible. This was very important to me as there are several times during the day when I would go to pray, as my religion is what means the most to me and which has greatly improved my life.”
