Scarlet Barton-Holtz (18) from Stirling is studying for a HND Visual Communication and says that Forth Valley College is perfect if you are not ready to go to university and ideal to gain the qualifications you need to progress.

She said: “I chose to study at Forth Valley College as it was the closest College with a Graphic Design course. I have found that the facilities and lecturers are great and the experience has benefited me well, as it's allowed me access to programs and taught me things I previously didn't know.

“The College and course will help me progress to the next stage of my career as it has shown me in detail how to work to a brief, if I decide to work for a company or for myself.

“I would recommend the course as it has three levels NC, HNC and HND and they all have different things to be taught. The NC is perfect for those just getting out of high school and into graphic design, and the HNC and HND are two courses which prepare you for a degree, which is a more detail focused course, and for those who already know things about graphic design.

“The best bit for me so far has been making friends who have similar interests to me and finding my niche for what I enjoy within graphic design.

“I would recommend people to choose College as it is perfect if you are not ready to go straight into university, but also perfect if you need more grades for university. College is also great if you aren't sure what you want to go into fully as they have many NC courses.

“The thing I loved most about my Forth Valley College experience is how helpful the staff are and how freeing college feels when compared to high school.”
