Participants will acquire knowledge and understanding of biological concepts, facts, ideas and techniques and the applications of biology in society and industry.
The course will give students skills in problem solving, practical abilities associated with biology and will develop positive attributes such as being open minded and being willing to recognise alternative points of view.
Higher Human Biology - Evening
This course provides participants with a broad, integrated study of a wide range of biological topics which build on the concepts developed in the Standard Grade and Intermediate 2 Biology courses.
It provides students with an in-depth understanding of human biology, emphasising the biological principles relevant to the human body and its functions. It aims to develop knowledge, problem-solving skills, and analytical abilities through theoretical and practical learning experiences.
It fosters a scientific approach to understanding the complexities of the human body and its interactions with the environment.
This course will be delivered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
One of the following:
- National 5 or Intermediate 2 in Biology
- NC Level 5 in Applied Science
Course places are only secured after payment/funding has been arranged.

Student Paying
Fees of less than £150 must be paid in full. Payment by instalment is available, provided the course fee is £150 or greater. You can access a direct debit form here.
Instalments must be paid via direct debit over a 4-month period and an initial 30% deposit is required in order to secure your place. You will not be able to apply online if paying by direct debit please contact Evening Admissions - eveninginfo@forthvalley.ac.uk.
Employer Paying
If your employer is paying for your tuition fees, an Employers Agreement Form or letter from your employer must be submitted prior to or on enrolment. You can access the Employer Agreement Form here. We ask that you complete the Employer Agreement Form and return via email to -eveninginfo@forthvalley.ac.uk
Fee Waiver
You may be eligible for a fee waiver for your course if you meet the eligibility criteria which includes certain benefits such as Universal credit.
