Photography: An Introduction - Evening

This ten week course offers inspiration and ideas to improve your photography. Photographic equipment is constantly being updated, with the promise of better pictures, when instead, mastering the basic camera controls and learning to think and see photographically, are skills which will last a lifetime.

This course is suitable for beginners and improvers. You will learn about the and develop skills in the photographic formal elements: line, shape, form, space, balance, composition, framing, perspective and depth. You will also learn and develop skills in the Exposure Triangle: aperture, shutter speed and ISO. You are required to bring a camera and SD card with you each week. To get the most out of the course, a DSLR camera would be recommended.

This course will be delivered on Thursday evenings.

The content of this course is usually catered to the participating students. The course is structured with a range of knowledge-led and skill-based workshops. You should expect to learn about the world of Photography and all of it's beauty, as well as learning about a range of photographers and a variety of photographic techniques. You will have the opportunity to shoot around the beauty landscape of our Stirling Campus, as well as in our professional Lighting Studio. You will, develop skills in working Apple Macs, as well as software such as Microsoft teams and - if appropriate - Adobe Software such as Photoshop.

Many of our Evening Provision students have progressed onto our full time Photography courses at FVC (NC, HNC and HND Photography).

Course places are only secured after payment/funding has been arranged.

As per the College Tuition Fees and Refund Policy, tuition fees are non-refundable except under exceptional circumstances. Refer to our Tuition Fee Refund and Withdrawal Procedure on the College website.

Student Paying

Fees of less than £150 must be paid in full. Payment by instalment is available, provided the course fee is £150 or greater. You can access a direct debit form here.

Instalments must be paid via direct debit over a 4-month period and an initial 30% deposit is required in order to secure your place. You will not be able to apply online if paying by direct debit please contact Evening Admissions - eveninginfo@forthvalley.ac.uk.

Employer Paying

If your employer is paying for your tuition fees, an Employers Agreement Form or letter from your employer must be submitted prior to or on enrolment. You can access the Employer Agreement Form here.
