Forth Valley College’s Antonine Suite turned into a reptile house for a couple of hours recently when snakes, lizards and a tortoise visited to help students learn.
Falkirk based ‘Racks 4 Reptiles’ were invited in for an educational animal handling session on Monday 20 May, with 18 HND Applied Biological Science students signing up as part of their Animal Biology unit.
Science Lecturer Lindsay Brown, said: “I have worked with Racks 4 Reptiles and its owner George Struthers before, when I did a presentation on genetics at an open day at their store in Falkirk.
“They kindly agreed to then come in and host one of their educational animal handling sessions. This will help the students in understanding the evolutionary biological differences between some classes of animals, by being able to visualise and hold these animals!
“This was an exciting opportunity for Forth Valley College to work with a local business to enhance the education we deliver, and it will benefit the students by contextualising their knowledge acquired during their Animal Biology.”
